Gold River is a community in Sacramento County, California. It is a Census Designated Place which means that its boundaries have no legal status, however, these boundaries are mapped based on the geographical extent associated with how the inhabitants regularly use the named place. The town is at an elevation of 121 feet and it occupies a total area of 7.05km2 with 0.22km2 covered by water. It lies between Rancho Cordova on the south, Folsom on the east, and the American River on the north. The community of Gold River consists of residential planned development and some smaller subdivisions.
The Gold River Master Association is the master association for the 25 separate “villages” that make up the association. The cities neighboring the community are Fair Oaks, Orangevale, Rancho Cordova, Carmichael, Folsom, Foothill Farms, Citrus Heights, La Riviera, North Highlands, Rosemont, Roseville, Rocklin, Rio Linda, Florin, and Sacramento.
