Additions

There are a host of reasons why homeowners look to increase the size of their home. Whether it's growing families or new hobbies, adding one or several rooms to your home is an effective and increasingly popular means of increasing your space. When done right, not only does a home addition provide extra space but it adds value to your home and increases its aesthetic charm.

Another increasingly popular avenue homeowners take are ADUs (accessory dwelling units), which refers to a secondary house or apartment that shares the building lot of the original house. ADUs are an efficient use of existing space and are perfect for growing families or for having a dedicated space for hobbies or activities.

If you have extra space at the bottom of your garden, an ADU may be a perfect choice. We pride ourselves in handling every step of the construction process, from design and implementation to clean-up.

About Arden Arcade

Arden Arcade is a Census Designated Area (regions set apart for statistical purposes only. They are used to collect and correct statistical data during census) located in California. Data from the United States Census Bureau shows that Arden Arcade is a 17.9 square miles city, with 17.8 square miles of land and 0.1 square miles of water. The city is located at an elevation of 56 feet above sea level.

On the north of Arden Arcade, the city is bounded by Arden Creek and Auburn Boulevard, while on the south, the city is bounded by the American river. Ethan Way provides the western border, and the eastern border is formed by Mission avenue, Walnut avenue, and Cypress avenue.

Arden Arcade has access to three major American highways; on the south, just north of the American River, is the U.S Route 50, as well as the Capital City Freeway and Interstate 80. Other major thoroughfares include El Camino Avenue, Arden Way, Fair Oaks Boulevard, Marconi Avenue, and Alta Arden Avenue on the east-west axis. On the north-south axis, the major thoroughfares are Watt Avenue, Eastern Avenue, Fulton Avenue, and Howe Avenue.

There are records of Arden Arcade history in the Sacramento ALC Historical Study 82, written by Raymond Oliver in 1983. Indigenous and Nisenan people were the first indigenes of the Arden Arcade region. Initially, the Arden arcade region was part of a Mexican land grant- the Rancho del Paso grant. The Mexican government negotiated the grant by John Sutter, who eventually got the deed.

In 1843, John Sutter transferred the Rancho Del Paso deed to John Sinclair, Eliab, and Hiram Grimes. Again, the deed was transferred to Samuel Norris and then to James Ben Ali Haggin in 1862. Haggin used the Rancho Del Paso for horse rearing, which brought him a lot of fame as one of his horses won the Kentucky 12th derby in 1886 in record time. Haggin constructed a railroad spur from his northern paddocks, which he used to ship his horses. This has been replaced with the Hagginwood golf course. Haggin managed Rancho Del Paso until 1905.

After Higgin, the Rancho Del Paso deed was transferred to Orlando Robertson, Arden Hills in Minnesota; hence the name Arden. The part of the name was given after the arcade of limbs of oak trees built by Haggin to provide shade. There are still remnants of these native oak trees in present-day Arden Arcade.

Under Orlando Roberson’s management, the Rancho developed and discovered how fertile the soil was for farming, especially citrus and olives. Robertson sold off parts of the Rancho to farming families and chose the names of the streets based on the inventors of the period like Edison, Watts, and the likes.

One of the oldest surviving buildings in Arden Arcade is the Del Paso country club which was built in 1919 and named after the Rancho where it was built. Also, the Arden middle school was established in 1914. The first residential settlements in the city were established between the 1920s and the 1930s. However, significant infrastructural development began after the Second World War.

Arden Arcade is home to several schools, including the St. Philomene catholic school for kindergarten to grade 8 and seven high schools, some of which date as far back as 1958 to the latest; Loretto High school, established in 2014. The city also has a buzzing commercial center with a series of shops, plazas, clubs, and restaurants.

Presently, Arden Arcade is one of the most diverse cities in Sacramento regarding culture and economics. Million-dollar homes and neighborhoods line the American river and the American river parkway. The city also boasts beautiful mid-century neighborhoods by renowned architects such as Jere Strizek, Randolph Parks, and the Strength Brothers. Most of these residential areas were developed after World War II.

What we can see of modern-day Arden Arcade was built between 1945 and 1970. The residential areas give off a middle-class mid-century feel, developed by some of the best architects of their time. There are also a number of custom homes and office complexes built by the likes of Carter Sparks and John Harvey Carter.
