Fiber cement, insulated vinyl and engineered wood siding, supplied and installed across Antelope under one Solid contract.
Tell us a little about it. We’ll follow up within one business day.
Exterior replacements across Antelope, material chosen before anything is ordered.
Cracked boards, chalky paint and warped seams age a house faster than anything inside it, and they're rarely only cosmetic. Water that gets past siding finds sheathing, framing and insulation. Replacing it fixes how the house looks and how it holds up, in the same week's work.
Solid supplies and installs siding for replacement projects and new builds, and we help you choose the material and colour before anything is ordered.
You get an honest comparison between fiber cement, insulated vinyl and engineered wood, walls opened and assessed before new material goes on, and trim details that make the finished exterior look designed rather than wrapped.
Fire, heat, moisture and maintenance weighed for our valley summers.
Sheathing and wall condition assessed before anything is covered up.
Corners, windows and rooflines finished, not just filled.
These are the siding materials Solid supplies and installs. They look more similar in a brochure than they behave on a west-facing wall in August. The differences worth caring about are fire, moisture and how often you will be up a ladder with a brush.
Fiber cement lap: durability and fire resistance, in a wide range of colours and textures.
Cement, sand and cellulose. Board and panel formats, smooth or wood-grain, very stable in heat.
Insulation bonded behind the finish, warmer in winter, cooler in summer.
Wood fibre and resin. The look of timber, with better resistance to moisture and insects.
Each tile shows a diagram of the material’s own profile, the same drawing vocabulary we use for cabinet doors, edge profiles and roof patterns. Colour and texture ranges are wide enough that a single photograph would mislead; bring your elevation to the showroom and we will put real samples on the wall.
Water that gets past old siding does not stop at the boards. It finds building paper, sheathing, framing and insulation, which is why we open a wall and look before we price the material going back on.

Not every siding problem needs a whole new exterior. After we look at the walls, we tell you which of these two jobs your house needs and why.
For damage that stays in one place on an otherwise sound wall.
For siding that is worn, swollen or cracking across the house.
During a re-side, the wall around every window is open down to the sheathing. That is the one time a new window can be lapped into the new weather barrier and flashed from the outside, the way the manufacturer intends.
If you replace the windows later, we have to cut back the new siding and trim around each opening and then patch it. Doing both together means one schedule and no patched trim afterwards.
One photo of each side of the house is enough for a first look at the siding and the windows. We reply with what we see and set up a walkthrough at a time that suits you.
Siding quotes for the same house can differ by tens of thousands, and it is almost always one of these five. Ask any bidder to put all five in writing. Once they are on paper, two quotes can finally be compared.
The choice you make deliberately
01
Fiber cement, insulated vinyl and engineered wood sit at different price points, and each has grades within it. This is the one driver you control completely, and the one worth spending an hour on before anything is ordered.
02
Wall area sets the floor. Gables, returns, dormers and a second storey add labour that a flat elevation of the same area never does.
03
Every window, door and architectural feature is an edge to flash, trim and finish. Intricate elevations cost more than plain ones.
04
Only knowable once the old siding comes off. Sound sheathing is the good outcome; moisture or pest damage is repair work.
05
Insulation, painting, trim upgrades or repairs folded into the same visit, cheaper bundled than done separately, but still real cost.
Published range, Antelope area
The figure Solid publishes for an average siding replacement, moving on the five drivers above. We quote from a fixed written scope after seeing the walls. The estimate is free and there is no obligation.
Siding is priced by wall area, and the shape of the house matters as much as the material. The three tiers below are the three materials on 2,000 sq ft of wall; Solid’s published $25,000–$75,000 for an average replacement sits across them.
Want a range for your own walls? The calculator below takes the material and the wall area, and updates live.
Insulated vinyl on a single-storey house with plain walls and few openings.
Fiber cement on a mixed elevation: gables, a second storey, real trim work.
Engineered wood or premium grades on a cut-up elevation with heavy detailing.

The starting point
Every project follows this path. Yours starts with a conversation.
Antelope’s original hardboard and T1-11 is at end of life, and the bottom course tells you first. Fibre cement is its natural successor.
Colour-through vinyl and factory-finished fibre cement end the cycle rather than restarting it.
Insulated systems, plus the insulation we can add while the wall is open, which is the only time it is cheap.
The one upgrade that is visible from the sidewalk, on every elevation, all at once.
Priced per square foot of wall, so the comparison holds whatever the house. The repaint cycle is the column that decides the twenty-year cost, not the install price.
| Material | Installed in Antelope | Repaint cycle | Heat and UV | Fire |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Insulated vinyl | $13–$19 / sq ft | Never, colour runs through | Good | Not suitable for WUI areas |
| Fibre cement | $20–$29 / sq ft | 12–15 yrs, or a factory finish | Excellent | Non-combustible, WUI-ready |
| James Hardie, ColorPlus | $20–$29 / sq ft | Factory finish | Excellent, fade-resistant | Non-combustible |
| Engineered wood | $31–$48 / sq ft | 8–12 yrs | Good | Treated. Check the WUI rating |
Re-siding a typical single-storey Antelope home, around 2,000 sq ft of wall, runs about $26,000–$38,000 in insulated vinyl. The calculator above works from the same rates. Like-for-like re-siding typically needs no permit; repairs that expose sheathing or change the wall assembly do, and we pull it.
Siding is the one trade where the whole wall is open for a week. What we find in that week is worth more than the material choice.
One look at the walls, and the ranges above become your number.
No commitment, no fee. You get the condition of the barrier and the sheathing, what the open wall makes affordable, and an honest range for each material.
This is a great opportunity not only to feel the materials, but also to get an idea or some inspiration.
You have probably seen most of it on a screen. Every cabinet, countertop, tile, and fixture Solid Construction & Design works with is there to touch and compare.
The showroom covers 28,000 square feet inside the Filco Superstore on Fulton Avenue, which makes it the largest design and appliance showroom in Northern California.
Bring a floor plan, a photo off your phone, or just an idea. A designer will pull samples with you and keep the choices within what you planned to spend.

Straight answers on the four materials, replace versus repaint, what drives the cost, comfort, partial replacements and what siding in Antelope costs.
James Hardie siding, fiber cement, insulated vinyl and engineered wood. Each behaves differently in heat, fire and moisture, and we'll walk you through the trade-offs at your estimate.
Look for cracks, warping, boards pulling away, chalky or peeling paint that returns quickly, and any sign of moisture or pest damage. Paint on failing siding buys a season; replacement resets the wall.
The material and grade you choose, the size and shape of the house, how intricate the elevations are around windows and rooflines, the condition of the walls underneath, and any added scope like insulation, painting or repairs.
It can. Insulated vinyl adds a layer of insulation behind the finish, and any siding replacement is the natural moment to correct gaps and weather barriers while the wall is open.
Yes, though matching an existing material and weathered colour is the hard part. We'll be straight with you about whether a partial job will read as a patch.
Solid publishes $25,000–$75,000 for an average siding replacement, and that band moves on the five drivers above. Priced by wall area, insulated vinyl on a straightforward single-storey elevation runs about $13–$19 per sq ft, roughly $26,000–$38,000 on 2,000 sq ft of wall. Fiber cement runs $20–$29 per sq ft, or $40,000–$58,000. Engineered wood and premium grades run $31–$48 per sq ft, or $62,000–$96,000. Gables, dormers, a second storey and heavy trim add up to 38% on the top end. Use the calculator above for your own walls.

Re-siding is the one project that exposes the whole envelope. Anything else that touches it is far cheaper now than after the boards are back on.
The same weather did this
Repair and replacement in asphalt, metal, tile, slate and shake, with the sheathing inspected before anything is priced.
Only cheap while the wall is open
Every opening measured individually, with the Low-E glass matched to the elevation it sits on rather than ordered in one batch.
If the footprint is changing too
Suites, bump-outs and second storeys, designed to the buildable envelope your lot actually allows, then tied in so it does not read as an addition.
