Roof installation and replacement in Antelope: asphalt, metal, tile, slate and shake, installed under one Solid contract.
Tell us a little about it. We’ll follow up within one business day.
Roof inspections and replacements across Antelope, residential and commercial.
Roofs fail quietly for years and then loudly in one February storm. By the time a ceiling stains, the money has usually already been spent, on sheathing, insulation and drywall that a timely replacement would have protected. The decision worth making early is which system, not how long you can wait.
Solid installs and replaces roofs on residential and commercial property, and we analyse the structure before recommending a system rather than after.
You get a material chosen for your framing and your budget, a tear-off that protects the house underneath, and a crew that treats the drainage details as seriously as the shingles.
Tile and slate need framing that can carry them. We check first.
Valleys, flashing, penetrations and edges, not just the field.
Pitched and low-slope work under one licensed contractor.
Complete roof systems for new builds, additions and ADUs, matched to the main house.
Regular inspections and gutter cleaning that keep a roof sound between replacements.
Solid specialises in these five, on both residential and commercial property. The right one depends less on taste than on what your framing can carry and how long you intend to own the house.
The default for good reasons: the widest range of colours and profiles, the simplest installation, and the least demand on your framing. Architectural shingles are heavier and longer-lived than the old three-tab.
Panels or shingles, in several metals. Sheds water and debris, needs very little attention, and is fully recyclable at the end of a long life. The premium is up front.
Texture and shadow no other material gives, and non-combustible. Clay is lighter and more brittle; concrete is heavier and tougher. Both need framing rated to carry them.
The longest-lived roof there is, and the most expensive. Natural stone, fireproof, and heavy enough that the structure below has to be designed for it.
Redwood, cedar or pine, for houses where nothing else looks right. Weathers to grey unless it is maintained, and fire treatment is a conversation worth having early in our climate. This is the system where the walkthrough matters most. We will tell you plainly whether your house and your setting suit it.
Each card shows a diagram of the material’s own pattern rather than a photograph of somebody else’s roof, the same drawing vocabulary we use for cabinet doors and edge profiles, and a fairer way to compare five surfaces side by side. Life expectancies are general material ranges, not a warranty; your exposure, pitch and ventilation move them in both directions.
None of these four need a ladder or a contractor to spot. Any one of them is worth an inspection; two together usually means the roof is finished rather than damaged.
01
Granules are the sunscreen on a shingle. Once they are in the downspout the shingle is ageing fast.
02
Edges lifting or tiles missing after wind means the field is no longer sealed as one surface.
03
Water travels before it shows. By the time a ceiling marks, the leak is usually several feet away and months old.
04
The cheapest inspection you can do yourself. Anything you can see up there, water can get through.
The field material gets all the attention and causes almost none of the leaks. What a re-roof is really buying you is everything underneath and around it, which is why we quote the whole assembly rather than a square-foot rate on shingles.
On timing: roofing materials need dry conditions to seal properly, so late spring through early fall is the easiest window in our climate. Urgent work we schedule whenever it is needed. We would rather tarp a roof in January than let it keep leaking.
Roofing is priced by area, but pitch, material weight and what the tear-off uncovers are what separate two quotes on the same house. The three below are asphalt, metal and slate on the same 1,800 sq ft roof.

A single-layer tear-off on a simple pitched roof with sound sheathing underneath.
The common case: multiple planes, some repair, and a material step up.
Tile, slate or shake on a cut-up roof, sometimes with structural reinforcement.
Figures are planning ranges for the region, not quotes. We price from a fixed scope after inspecting the roof. The inspection is free and there's no obligation.

01
Steeper roofs are slower and need more safety provision. The same square footage can be two different jobs.
02
Tile and slate are far heavier than asphalt. If the framing needs reinforcing, that is structural work, not roofing work.
03
Sheathing is only visible once the old roof is off. Sound decking is cheap news; rot is not.
04
Valleys, dormers, skylights and vents are where roofs leak and where labour goes.
05
Getting materials up and the old roof down: driveway access, height and yard space all count.
Design-build means one team owns your whole roof: the inspection, the material call, the tear-off and every detail around the edges. That's a calmer process for you and a better-built roof in the end. Here's what it looks like day to day.
One plan, one contract, one team accountable end to end.

The starting point
Every project follows this path. Yours starts with a conversation.
Much of Antelope is on its first or second roof. The grit in the gutters says which.
Climate Zone 12 heat and UV: cool-rated shingles and reflective metal earn their keep here.
Weight honesty first: we check what your framing can carry before recommending tile or slate.
Re-roof before solar, not after. The sequencing advice nobody gives.
Six things get looked at before anyone quotes a number, including the parts of a roof you cannot see from the driveway.
One inspection, and the ranges above become your number.
No commitment, no fee. You get the condition of the assembly, the systems that suit your roof, and an honest range for each.
This is a great opportunity not only to feel the materials, but also to get an idea or some inspiration.
You have probably seen most of it on a screen. Every cabinet, countertop, tile, and fixture Solid Construction & Design works with is there to touch and compare.

Straight answers on materials, repair versus replacement, whether your framing can carry tile, timing, commercial work and what a roof in Antelope costs.
Asphalt shingles, metal, tile, slate and shake. That's the list our roofing team specialises in. Which one suits you depends as much on what your framing can carry as on how it looks.
Age, the pattern of the damage and the condition of the layer underneath. Isolated storm damage on a sound roof is a repair; granule loss, curling or leaks in more than one place usually means the roof is finished. We'll tell you which one you have, in writing.
Sometimes, and it's the first thing we check. Tile and slate are considerably heavier than asphalt and need framing rated to carry them, occasionally with reinforcement. We look before we quote.
Dry weather. Roofing materials need the right conditions to seal properly, so the stretch from late spring through early fall is the easiest window in our climate, though we plan urgent work whenever it's needed.
Yes. Our roofing experience covers both residential and commercial property.
Projects that touch plumbing, electrical or structure require a permit. We handle it end to end: drawings, plan review, permits and inspections are part of our scope, so you're never chasing the city yourself.
Roofing is priced by the square foot of roof area, and the material sets the band. On a typical 1,800 sq ft roof, a straightforward asphalt re-roof runs $10,800–$19,800, about $6–$11 per sq ft. Metal runs $23,400–$41,400, or $13–$23 per sq ft. Tile lands between the two at $15–$28 per sq ft, wood shake at $12–$21, and slate is the outlier at $25–$50 per sq ft, or $45,000–$90,000 on that same roof. A steep or heavily cut-up roof adds up to 45% on the top end. Use the calculator above for your own roof.
Whatever weathered the roof weathered everything beside it. Doing them on one scaffold and one schedule is cheaper than doing them two years apart.
The same weather did this
Fibre cement, insulated vinyl and engineered wood, plus the insulation that is only cheap while the wall is open.
Tied into the same roofline
Lattice through to insulated, tied into the roofline and footed properly, and permitted, which is what fails on the ones that are not.
If it is going up new
Ground-up work on your own parcel: homes, detached structures and teardown-rebuilds, feasibility first.
