Experience
20+yrs

Window replacements across Antelope, Placer County and the surrounding area.

Why it matters

You can feel a bad window from the sofa.

Rooms that bake by four in the afternoon, glass that's cold to the palm in January, sashes painted shut, condensation between the panes. Windows fail slowly enough that people stop noticing and start adjusting: closing blinds, moving furniture, running the air conditioning harder.

What you get

Measured properly, installed properly.

Solid supplies and installs replacement windows across Antelope, Placer County and the surrounding area, working with ENERGY STAR certified manufacturers.

You get a glass package chosen for the way each elevation faces, openings measured individually rather than averaged, and installation that leaves the trim and the wall as tidy as the new window.

ENERGY STAR certified products

Multiple-pane glass, inert gas fills and warm-edge spacers.

Every opening measured

Houses settle. We template each window rather than repeating one size.

Low maintenance by design

Finishes and colours chosen so upkeep stays close to zero.

What is inside the glass

Four things make a window efficient.

An energy-efficient window is an assembly, not a pane. These four parts have to work together: a good pane in a bad spacer leaks heat around its own edge.

01

More than one pane

Two or three panes of glass instead of one, so the assembly resists heat rather than conducting it straight through.

02

Inert gas fill

The cavity between panes is filled with an inert gas rather than air, which slows heat transfer further.

03

Warm-edge spacers

The spacer holding the panes apart is where heat sneaks around the edge. A warm-edge spacer closes that path.

04

ENERGY STAR certified

Solid works with ENERGY STAR certified manufacturers, so the whole rated assembly is what arrives, not just good glass.

Styles & configurations

Eight ways a window can open.

Operation matters more than looks once you live with it. Which of these suits a room depends on the reach, the sill height and where the breeze comes from.

Opens

Single-hung

The lower sash opens, the upper is fixed. The simplest opening window there is.

Double-hung window elevation diagram - both sashes slide

Opens

Double-hung

Both sashes move, so you can ventilate from the top. Easier to clean from inside.

Slider window elevation diagram - a horizontal sash on a track

Opens

Slider

A horizontal sash on a track. Good for wide openings and low sills.

Casement window elevation diagram - hinged at the jamb

Opens

Casement

Hinged at the jamb and cranked open. Seals tightly and catches a side breeze.

Awning window elevation diagram - hinged at the head

Opens

Awning

Hinged at the head so it can stay open in light rain. Common above a sink.

Picture window elevation diagram - fixed glass, no hardware

Fixed

Picture

Fixed glass, no hardware: the most light and the least air leakage.

Bay window elevation diagram - three planes projecting from the wall

Fixed

Bay

Three planes projecting from the wall, adding floor area and light to a room.

Garden window elevation diagram - a glazed box with a shelf

Fixed

Garden

A glazed box with a shelf, usually over a kitchen sink.

Each tile is an elevation drawing of the style, with the gold marks showing how it moves, the same drawing vocabulary we use for cabinet doors, edge profiles and roof patterns. Frame colours, grid patterns and glass packages are all chosen separately, and we bring samples to the consultation.

How it runs

Four steps, no surprises.

A window project is short enough that the schedule matters more than the sequence. This is what the days actually look like.

Two people discussing a window in a living room

Step 01

Personalised consultation

We come to the house, look at the windows you have, and talk through what is actually bothering you: heat, noise, operation or looks.

Window frame samples in white, bronze and black with glass samples

Step 02

Custom selection

We guide the choice (style, frame, glass package and budget) elevation by elevation rather than one specification for the whole house.

Two installers fitting a new white window into a wall

Step 03

Expert installation

The installers fit each unit into its own measured opening, working through the house so it is never left open.

Step 04

Final walkthrough

We go round the house with you, open and close every window, and deal with anything on your list before we call it finished.

Most houses are days rather than weeks, and we work opening by opening so the house is never left open overnight.

What it costs

How much do replacement windows cost in Antelope?

Window projects are priced per opening, by size and glass package. The three below are per window; a typical Antelope house has around fourteen.

Want a range for your own house? The calculator below takes the window type and the opening count, and updates live.

What moves the number

Large black-framed picture window looking onto a garden

01

Size of the opening

A window is priced by the unit, and a floor-to-ceiling slider is several times the glass of a bathroom awning.

Two double-pane glass samples on a wood table

02

Glass package

Dual versus triple pane, the coating, the gas fill and the spacer. This is where the efficiency number comes from.

Window frame corner samples in white, black and taupe

03

Frame material

Vinyl, fiberglass and composite differ in price, in how they hold colour, and in how they behave in our summer heat.

Old window removed, leaving the wall opening and worn sill

04

What the old frame hides

Rot, distortion and a settled opening only show once the old unit is out. Sound framing is the good outcome.

Two-story house with new white-framed windows and a lawn

05

Trim and finishing

Interior casing, exterior stucco or siding patching, and paint. The window is quick; making the wall good takes the time.

Every Solid quote includes

How we work

From first idea to finished project.

Six deliberate phases, one team carrying the work from a napkin sketch to the final walkthrough, each stage building on the last. Tap any phase to see exactly what we handle.

01 Phase / 06

The starting point

Every project follows this path. Yours starts with a conversation.

What Antelope replaces windows for

What Antelope homeowners replace windows for.

Old aluminum window with fogging between the panes

“The original dual panes are fogged and done.”

Antelope’s 1990s aluminium and first-generation vinyl units are failing at the seals. Once one fogs, the rest are the same age.

Family room with large windows, a fireplace and a dog on the rug

“A west room you can sit in come July.”

Low-E coatings matched to each elevation, not one glass specified for the whole house because it was easier to order.

Woman reading in an armchair beside a large window

“Quiet the street.”

Acoustic glass packages, put where the noise actually comes from rather than everywhere.

Single-story house with matching white-framed windows

“The whole house, phased sensibly.”

One measured schedule of openings, phased by elevation or by budget, and the price holds across the phases.

Code and rebates

What code and your utility add in Antelope.

Two things move the price of a replacement window that have nothing to do with the window: what Title 24 requires, and what your utility will give back.

Antelope
Title 24, replacement windowsA U-factor and SHGC ceiling applies. We specify to the current standard
Utility rebateSMUD runs an efficiency programme; we check the current offer against your order
PermitA like-for-like retrofit is a simple over-the-counter permit at Sacramento County

Title 24 values and SMUD’s programme both change between cycles. We confirm the current numbers when your order is specified, not from a page written months earlier.

Your free measure

What we measure and check, opening by opening.

There is no such thing as a house full of identical windows. The measure is what turns a per-opening rate into a price that holds.

  • Every opening measured individually
  • Frame condition, and any dry rot
  • Stucco or siding, which decides retrofit against full-frame
  • Bedroom egress requirements
  • Elevation-by-elevation Low-E matching
  • What Sacramento County requires

A measured schedule of openings. The quote is built from it.

No commitment, no fee. You get every opening measured, the install method each one needs, the glass matched to its elevation, and a number that survives the order.

The whole house

What the whole house runs in Antelope.

Windows are priced per opening, so the honest way to show a whole-house number is by opening count. Fourteen is the typical Antelope home.

House profileVinyl dual-paneUpgradedTriple or specialty
About 10 openings · compact single-storey$8,500–$13,000$14,000–$22,000$24,000–$42,000
About 14 openings · a typical Antelope home$11,900–$18,200$19,600–$30,800$33,600–$58,800
About 18 openings · two-storey$15,300–$23,400$25,200–$39,600$43,200–$75,600

Replacing all 14 windows in a typical Antelope home runs about $11,900–$18,200 in vinyl dual-pane. The calculator above works from the same per-opening rates. Full-frame replacement in stucco costs more than a retrofit into a sound frame, which is why every opening gets measured rather than counted.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions.

Straight answers on what makes a window efficient, glass versus whole-window replacement, phasing, timescales, new construction and what windows in Antelope cost.

Didn't find your answer?
What makes a window energy efficient?

Three things working together: more than one pane of glass, an inert gas fill between the panes, and a warm-edge spacer holding them apart without conducting heat around the edge. We work with ENERGY STAR certified manufacturers so the whole assembly is rated, not just the glass.

Both are possible. Failed sealed units can sometimes be replaced in a sound frame, but if the frame is the problem (rot, distortion, painted-shut sashes), replacing the window is the honest answer.

Not necessarily. Doing every opening at once is the cheapest per window and the least disruptive overall, but starting with the worst elevation is a perfectly sensible first phase. We'll price both.

Most homes are a matter of days rather than weeks, and we work opening by opening so the house is never left open. We'll give you a dated schedule with your scope.

Yes, new-home window installation as well as replacement and repair.

Windows are priced per opening, by size and glass package. Vinyl frames with a standard dual-pane unit run $850–$1,300 per window, about $11,900–$18,200 for a typical fourteen-window house. An upgraded frame and glass package runs $1,400–$2,200 per window, or $19,600–$30,800. Triple pane and specialty shapes such as bay and garden windows run $2,400–$4,200 per window, or $33,600–$58,800. Large-format and specialty units add up to 48% on the top end.
